Ice Cafe in Dubai

It was 43 degrees celcius in Dubai today afternoon when we went to the ice cafe; where the temperature was negative 6 degrees :)...Here are a few pictures of the cafe:
As the name suggests, the tables, the seats, even those cute things hanging from the ceiling - all are made completely of ice.

Then they've made the Dubai skyline out of ice on one of the walls :-)

Thats my drink served in an ice glass at the ice bar.

Moi,
Oh thats a very common thing in Dubai as well. If you forget say, a CD in the car, you'll probably find it melted the next day.

Lalunadiosa,
It is quite a funny concept! Although it was my first time, I'm told its a common concept in Europe (which is really strange, because Europeans love the sun much more than ice).

What a coooool place (quite literally, too). Where in Dubai is it and how long has it been around? Those are great pics! The concept reminds me a little of the ice hotel in Lapland...haven't been there yet, but would definitely like to!

Lotus,
Coming from Canada I'm sure you wont want to be in cold weather :) But the cafe is pretty new, its at 'Times Square' - a mall between the 3rd & 4th interchange.

hmmm... how do u find such places in the first place:-) sometimes makes me wonder is it 'this place after all haha???'

MOE?

666,
I heard abt it from a friend :) Its not MOE, its in Times Square...that's a new place that has opened on SZR between the 3rd and 4th interchanges.

wow.. sounds cool.. but how do u sit on the glass chairs?? sorry for bein so silly. but its a genuine doubt i got..

Radha said...

Diya,
Hi! The seats are made of ice. You can sit on them like you would on a regular seat. They're cold, but then so is the air, one has to be in winter-wear inside :-)

hi again, Radha!

I live in South-Western Ontario, it's not as cold as most people think...I would say Toronto's weather is very much like the weather in New York city. When they describe Canada as the "Great White North" they are probably referring to the landlocked provinces. :)

Way too cool!! Its about 105 deg F in California at the moment :( I am envious ....

Radha said...

Lotus,
Really? I always thought Toronto winters are freezing !!

Happy Reader,
:) It really is a great relief from the summers here!

Only in Dubai!

LOtus : i've experienced Toronto winters and they're bruuutal. but then again, i'm from Texas so I may be biased :)

Amna,
Hahaha! Well, actually, its not a Dubai invention! They have had ice cafes in Europe for quite some time now

That is absolutely astonishing! It is hot & muggy here in New York, and I'd love to head into something as cool (in every sense of the word) as an ice cafe.

Annulla,
I'm sure NYC has many cooler places than this!! :)
Or you could visit Dubai to check it out!
